Float Therapy | Sensory Deprivation

Take a vacation from the noise and stress of daily life in a near zero-gravity state, buoyed up by 1,000+ pounds of epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) dissolved in skin temperature water, floating in a low sensory environment of no light, no sound. Disconnect from the world and tune into your own body and mind in the safe, nurturing environment of your own private float room. Effortlessly ease pain, anxiety and stress.

Our Float Tanks

  • Open Float Pool

This is the open float pool. It can accommodate a couples float or a single float. It is open to the room with no cover.

  • Oasis

The Oasis is a closed, more traditional float tank and becomes a favorite of almost all our floaters. Like every enclosed tank, you always have full control of the door and the light in the tank.

Benefits of Floating

  • Relief from arthritis, back pain, neck pain, tendinitis, inflammation, and psychosomatic pain relief through float therapy have all been documented with regular float practice.

  • The floating environment eliminates as much external stimulation as possible allowing your nervous system to take a break. In a world with a constant buzz or hum, our systems rarely experience the calm that floating provides. Having this experience can be very refreshing, nourishing and healthy for our bodies and minds. It can be an escape to your personal cabin at the lake any day of the year.

Recent float research has been focused on anxiety and the results are promising! In a study released this year, research conducted at the Human Performance Laboratory at Karlstad University in Sweden showed statistically significant stress reduction, increased energy, decreased anxiety and depression when compared to the control group. And six months later all benefits, except depression, were going strong.

In an article in TIME magazine regarding floating and research it was said, "The ongoing research is in its very early stages, but Feinstein and his team are seeing that floating tamps down anxiety in the brain in a way that rivals some prescription drugs and meditation."

  • Floating optimizes the results of your fitness and athletic training. Floating is shown to relax muscle tissue which improves blood circulation, helps to eliminate lactic acid and stimulates growth and regeneration of muscle tissue. Elite athletes to weekend warriors also use floating to enhance performance. The float tank aids in visualization and promotes focus and concentration.

  • Discover the feeling of relaxation that can only be found in a float tank. When you are supported by the dense, salted water, over 90% of gravity is off your body. With the addition of no light and no sound, your central nervous system gets a very rare break and relief from the work that it carries on 24/7. This deep rest sends signals to decrease the release of hormones and neurotransmitters that usually have a stressful effect on your body. Instead you'll feel an increase of the beneficial chemicals such as those feel good endorphins! Just lay back and enjoy your body being completely supported on the surface of the water. We think you'll agree, the result is simply profound relaxation.cription

  • Emily Noren wrote a book, Unsinkable, on how she used floating to heal from her eating disorder. And she also gave a 13 min emotional talk on how floating helped her at the 2015 Float Conference. It is a beautiful, positive, thought provoking talk on her journey and worth your time!

  • It's not unusual (and perfectly safe) to fall asleep in the tank. And it's not unusual to hear stories of deep blissful sleep the night after their float. When the body is no longer fighting gravity to stand up, and the central nervous system has very little work to do with inputs taken away, you are left with a deep satisfying rested feeling. A regular floating practice can help calm the mind and give a good night's rest.

  • Once you turn off the outside world, there is an amazing opportunity for deep self exploration. When your body isn't fighting against gravity and your brain isn't tanking in thousands of thoughts and sensations every single second, there is a window to dive deeper into your self and the creativity you possess when you enter the theta wave state.

  • Did you know napping after study can help you retain the information? The theta state is a time when the brain sorts through information and stores it in long term memory. Floating after studying can help not only retain the information, but also create clarity and focus to see it in new and creative ways which can enhance problem solving capabilities.

  • Decades of research in, float has been shown to lower epinephrine (adrenaline) and cortisol. These two hormones alter the immune system where high levels are associated with many “ailments”.

  • The float tank creates a quiet, nurturing space where Mama and baby can enjoy a time to bond and prepare for birth. Floating is safe for all stages of pregnancy with a doctor's input. It can help a mother alleviate her aching back, swollen ankles and sore feet, as well as joint pain, and exhaustion. It can also help deal with the stress and anxiety of preparing for a new member of the family.

After birth, floating is a wonderful way to relax and recharge and can even help bridge gaps in a new mama's sleep schedule.

FAQs

Before your float session:

A cleaning fee of $100-$1,500 will be charged if you float and:

  • Have hair dye that still washes out in the shower and it stains our equipment, linens, or any part of our facility. If hair dye is found in the tank, you will be charged a cleaning fee of $1,500 which doesn’t cover our cost to correct the issue.

  • Had a spray tan within the last 48-72 hours - same issue as the hair dye.

  • Leave anything in the pool that wasn’t there when you arrived - you will be charged a minimum of $100. This includes but is not limited to: skin & hair products like oil, dye, wax, food, beverages, bodily fluids, sand from a bathing suit, etc. These substances damage our pools and are very costly to remove.
